Firefighting Efforts Continue in Sooke Potholes Wildfire

Crews continue to battle the blaze in the Sooke Potholes Regional Park three days after it sparked.

The size of the out-of-control fire remains at 169 hectares, as of 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The BC Wildfire Service says there are five initial attack crews, one 10-person CRD crew and three helicopters responding to the fire.

Wednesday evening, the Metchosin Fire Department shared an update on the fire on its Facebook page, saying the bottom of the fire was unchanged and stable.

The District of Sooke says it is “incredibly grateful” for all the fire crews working to keep the community safe.

The district is recommending people be ready to evacuate should the situation get worse.
